CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

The fees for the 2019 conference, as well as the early-bird registration deadline, will be approximately: $175 for non-students and $50 for graduate students (before 13 May), and $225 for non-students and $75 for graduate students (13 May onward). These fees and deadlines also apply to non-presenters who wish to attend the conference. These rates are subject to change. 

You have to be an SFRA member to register.

Key dates:

  • ·       Early-bird registration: Until 12 May.
  • ·       Normal registration: 13 May - 5 June. 
  • ·       After 5 June, the on-line system will be closed temporarily.
  •      On-site registration at Chaminade University begins on 21 June.
NOTE: The last day to cancel and receive a full refund of registration fees is 5 June, the end of the normal registration period. Please do so through logging into the SFRA website via your membership then re-entering the registration link and requesting cancellation. After that deadline, refunds or partial refunds will be given only in the case of medical emergencies.

A conference travel grant is available for those with difficulty paying for a trip to the islands. Learn about the application process by clicking on this link, then send in your application materials by April 15, 2019.

By 22 MARCH 2019, submit a 300-500 word summary of your paper or panel, selecting 1 of the below 3 formats. Again, all speakers must be members of SFRA by the start of the conference.

Note: Abstracts do not have to relate directly to the conference theme.

Sessions are 1 1/2 hours long, including discussion and audience Q&A, so time your presentations accordingly.

PAPER:                                  Individual papers (20 min. max)

Paper author should include affiliation, a title, & a brief summary of the presentation.

PRE-CONSTITUTED PANEL:     3 papers that share a theme

Panel organizer should include session title, names of 3 speakers who have agreed to present & their affiliation, & a brief summary of the paper topics including that of her/his own paper if presenting.

ROUNDTABLE:               Informal discussion on a specific subject

Roundtable organizer should include session title, a brief description of expected subtopics/issues, & 3-4 names of speakers who have agreed to participate & their affiliation.

Chaminade classrooms contain a computer, projector, & screen. Free wi-fi access will be included in the registration fee, & the access code will be distributed in the program.
