The New SFRA Blog
Hi SFRA members, and welcome to the new SFRA website!
I wanted to make a short introductory post - before the SFRA blog really starts rolling - to explain why we've created this blog, and why we believe it will be an important feature of the new website.
There are a number of reasons as to why we've created a community surrounding the study of Science Fiction in its various forms, but one of the largest is that it gives its members an opportunity to see what others are doing in the field. This blog will serve a number of purposes that generally contribute to this visibility. For example, typical posts will include: news on trends in the study of Science Fiction, book/film/media reviews, CFPs for conferences and publications, important SFRA news, recognition of SFRA members, and other contributions by our core group of bloggers.
Our core group of bloggers will be made up of members who volunteer their time and employ their expertise to make semi-regular contributions to the official SFRA blog. As a result, we hope to bring you regular updates so that it will be a place where new content will constantly be generated. If you are interested in becoming one of our bloggers, or have an idea of what kind of content you would like to see on the blog, please let me know!
Some upcoming posts will include news about the 2009 SFRA conference straight from the conference organizers, SFRA President Lisa Yaszek and Doug Davis, as well as a host of posts from members attending the conference via a couple of blogging stations that will be set up at the conference.
I am excited about the prospects for this blog, and I hope to hear from you soon!
