SFRA Awards $1000 Grant to AboutSF

The Science Fiction Research Association (SFRA) executive committee is pleased to award its first organization grant in the amount of $1000 to AboutSF to support its continued services for the science fiction studies community. AboutSF is an exceptional resource center for science fiction, the fantastic, and education, which is a joint project of the University of Kansas, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), and the SFRA.

SFRA president Lisa Yaszek said about the conferring of the grant to AboutSF, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with AboutSF and I am personally quite pleased that you all are the first organization to reap the benefits of our new grant system.”

The SFRA recently inaugurated a new grant system, which provides support for members and organizations. These grants include the SFRA Membership Grant, which gives deserving applicants a one-year membership in the organization; the SFRA Travel Grant, which bestows funds for attending and presenting at the annual SFRA conference; the SFRA Scholarship Grant, which assists researchers engaged in significant issues and questions in science fiction studies, and finally, the SFRA Organization Grant, which supplies financial support of scholarly groups or organizations doing work to promote science fiction studies.
