The 2014 SFRA annual conference travels to Madison, WI to join with WisCon, "the world's leading feminist science fiction convention," on Memorial Day weekend, 2014. Drawing on WisCon's focus on feminist science fiction, its fans, and authors, SFRA 2014 will take as its theme the history and practice of feminist science fiction as well as science fiction that subverts the traditional gender binary. Bringing together the two different types of "cons" will also provide an interesting space to examine fan communities and their productions--of which WisCon is a prime example--and academic studies of such communities.

SFRA Programming
We invite submissions for individual papers (15 minutes), full panels (3 papers), roundtable discussions (75 minutes) or other presentations that explore science fiction and its history across any media. Preference will be given to submissions that focus on feminist science fiction, fan studies, and the works of either our special guests or the WisCon guests of honor.
Deadlines for paper and panel proposals is Feb. 22, 2014 by midnight. Once the link is complete, you will submit your proposals via the link on our website (link cominghttp://www.wiscon.info/sfra.php) We ask that you submit a 300 word abstract for consideration and a 100 word abstract for program publication. Please be sure to include any AV requests within your proposal. We will not be able to accommodate any late AV requests.
Please keep in mind that all SFRA 2014 presenters must be SFRA members at the time of the conference. See sfra.org to join.
